Navigating California's AB 723: What the New 2026 Altered Image Law Means for Your Listings

What AB 723 Requires
Starting in 2026, when digitally altered images are used, such as Virtual Twilight or Virtual Staging, the original image must be disclosed and made available alongside the enhanced version wherever the property is marketed, including:
- MLS
- Social media
- Print flyers
- Property websites
How We Handle Compliance for You
You receive everything needed to meet disclosure requirements.
All enhanced images will be deliver with clearly labeled originals and enhanced versions, packaged for MLS.
All enhanced images paired with a marketing kit will get a third version of the photo with a QR code linking to the included property site so they are ready to share across all your channels.
MLS:
For MLS: We clearly label every applicable photo and provide both the original and the enhanced versions. Both must be posted on the MLS to comply with AB 723.
Print Flyers & Social Media:
For Print Flyers and Social Media: When coupled with our marketing kit a version with a QR code that links directly to the included property site so buyers can see originals allowing you to post enhanced images in social media and print flyers without ruining the look by having to include originals.
Important: The QR-code linking strategy is not for MLS use. MLS platforms don’t allow external links including QR codes, this is why we supply the labeled original files and enhanced files for upload alongside each other.
